"Flying on Birds at Night" contemporary figurative painting

I dream about flying and birds, but not like this. In the dreams, I fly by myself, never on birds. Instead, the birds talk to me on the ground, and then I fly away from them.

This painting was recently used as the cover illustration for Escaping the House of Certainty: Poems by Susan Ludvigson.
