"My Clown Suit" contemporary figurative painting

The devil appears and shows me a clown's suit.  He says that I am a fool.  He asks me, "Why do you waste all your time painting?  Look at the bills.  When is the last time you went out with friends, called your mother?  All of this is vanity.  There is no real reason or meaning to any of it."
